Covid-19 Update:19th July

From Monday 19th July all of Scotland has moved to Protection Level 0 – but there are still restrictions in place, and the danger from the coronavirus disease has not ended.

In Protection Level 0 you can meet friends and family in social groups of up to:

  • 8 people from 4 households in someone’s home, and you can stay overnight. You do not need to maintain social distancing if you are meeting in someone’s house.
  • 10 people from 4 households in an indoor public place like a cafĂ©, pub or restaurant. Your household should maintain 1m social distancing from other households in your group when meeting in an indoor public space.
  • 15 people from 15 households outdoors. You do not need to maintain social distancing within your group, but you should maintain 1m social distancing from other groups meeting outdoors.

Children under the age of 12 do not count towards the total number of people.

Most businesses are able to open, and tradespeople and close-contact services (like hairdressers and podiatrists) can operate with appropriate safety measures in place.

However, with all this new freedom, the risk of infection is high – even though we now have vaccines and better treatments, and the risk of hospitalisation and mortality is lower – so we still need to be careful. Please continue to observe the guidance:

  • Wear a face covering whenever you are near other people.
  • Avoid crowded places.
  • Clean your hands, hard surfaces, door handles, light switches, taps, anything else that other people might touch.
  • Maintain 1m social distance from people who are not in your household or groups (as detailed above).
  • Self-isolate and get tested if you have symptoms.

Please keep the Protect Scotland app active on your phone, and if you receive an exposure notification please follow the instructions. If you are able to get vaccinated, please do.

OPAL is still supporting people across East Dunbartonshire whether they are affected by Covid or not, and as restrictions are eased we look forward to supporting the community to recover – not least through the efforts of the mutual aid volunteers who are now a permanent feature across the area.
