OPAL is a co-operative venture between Carers Link, Ceartas Advocacy, East Dunbartonshire Citizens Advice Bureau and East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action. OPAL is a single point of contact for information, advice and access to services for any adult health service user in East Dunbartonshire.
By using a ‘light touch’ informal style of communication, OPAL Advisers aim to explore a caller’s issues and get a holistic view about what their needs are, and then give them information and connect them to services and support that they need.
As a busy professional, you may find that you literally do not have the time to deal with issues that fall outside your sphere of professional practice; but you also do not want to dismiss your clients’ problems.
That is where OPAL can help you address that dilemma. By either referring clients yourself, or asking them to contact OPAL, you can be assured that their issues will be addressed and dealt with as far as possible.
We can help callers with information about subjects like:
- Income Maximisation Services.
- Power of Attorney and Guardianship.
- Carers Support.
- Using Self Directed Support.
- Applying for a Blue Badge or using the MyBus service.
- Finding social, leisure and exercise activities.
All the OPAL Advisers are fully-trained front-line workers, bound by high standards of privacy and confidentiality, who know the East Dunbartonshire area and the services and support that is available.
